Status: Live. Install a bounded read-only integration for nearby and closest-aircraft sensors over retained-delta MQTT.

Install

Download ADSBiq Nearby Aircraft 0.1.0 or inspect the public source repository., extract custom_components/adsbiq into Home Assistant's config/custom_components directory, restart Home Assistant, then add ADSBiq Nearby Aircraft from Devices & services.

Configure

Enter your feeder UUID and API key, observer latitude/longitude, radius from 1–250 nautical miles, and an aircraft cap from 1–100. Credentials remain in Home Assistant and are used only for read-only MQTT authentication.

Entities and bounds

The integration creates exactly two entities: Nearby aircraft and Closest aircraft. It filters retained aircraft locally, keeps only the configured number of nearest records, and evicts the farthest first. It never creates one entity per aircraft and never publishes MQTT messages.

State and recovery

The integration consumes complete retained states from adsbiq/v1/aircraft/+, removes aircraft on zero-byte tombstones, and reads network totals and sequence from adsbiq/v1/meta. Paho MQTT reconnects with bounded backoff after interruption.

Compatibility and verification

Version 0.1.0 is a Home Assistant custom integration using config entries and cloud-push entities. Its bounded state model passes malformed-payload, geographic-filter, tombstone, metadata, and eviction tests. Source and installation details are included in the ZIP.
